Move those buns over, it’s time for the Ramen Burger! The Ramen burger, aptly named, was a brain child of Keizo Shimamoto. This burger was a fast sellout and huge hit in NYC. “Foodie” trends have picked up, such as the cronut, so no wonder this was popular. Here is the general story:
Labeled the “Most Hype-worthy Newcomer” in the wide world of burgers in 2013! Some have claimed to have tried one before, but the Original Ramen Burger™ is unlike anything you’ve ever tasted before. A fresh USDA Prime ground beef chuck patty sandwiched between two craftily formed buns made from freshly cut ramen noodles. Accompanied by a special shoyu glaze, concocted by Keizo Shimamoto himself, and choice market fresh vegetables, the Ramen Burger™ is the biggest thing in Ramen and Burgers. Two of your favorite foods in one!
People have been trying to make their own DIY ramen burgers at home, due to these recent phenomenon. According to NYPost’s review,
At this point, Smorgasburg is the only place to get a genuine Ramen Burger — Shimamoto has already trademarked the name — but supposed imitators have already popped up in the Philippines. Packaged ramen brand Annie Chun’s is now offering instructions on how to make your own buns at home with its noodles”
Food is always more fun when you play with it, right? This was a great concoction by Shimamoto – if not for the taste, then for the experience. In Spring 2014, The Original Ramen Burger by Keizo Shimamoto will open brick & mortar locations in NY, at BERG’N, a new beer hall and food court run by Smorgasburg and Brooklyn Flea, as well as locations in Los Angeles and Honolulu. If you find yourself on either coastline, make sure to check out this one of a kind meal.
