After some serious fancy cheese and wine cravings, a friend and I found ourselves sitting at Corkbuzz wine club at 13 E. 13th Street – and it was amazing.
The sommelier recommended a delectable Vermentino Blend from Tuscany for myself, and a delicious Riesling from Germany for my friend. But let’s get down to what we’re really here for – the food.
We ordered the 3 cheese plate with olives and prosciutto and holy deliciousness of cheeses – the homemade ricotta was literally to die for. The serving was large and easily shareable between the two of us, with multiple extra servings of bread brought out with ZERO looks of derision that you sometimes experience at other wine bars when asking for extra bread.
Some wine bars can feel ‘stuffy’ and slightly pompous – but not Corkbuzz. The room is beautifully lit, with comfortable bar stools (a must in my opinion) and all glasses hanging behind the bar just begging you to put them to use – it’d be rude not to!
I seriously can’t rave about this place enough – the next stop at Corkbuzz will be try one of their many and varied wine tastings – from Wine101 to Tours of the many wine regions worldwide. I will definitely be returning – and probably trying their homemade ricotta once more!
