Instagram. In a platform of never-ending menus and food, it can be hard to figure out which one is really trending right now. All those hours you spend sifting Instagram with your fingers can actually result in more than just ogling at the latest food frenzy. However, as Instagram has taken our obsession with food to a beautiful new level, sometimes we are able to find some incredible dishes and displays.
Here are the 4 mesmerizing food ideas trending Instagram!
1. Avocado Rose
Pick an avocado that’s just ripe. If it’s too ripe and it will be impossible to slice up. Peel and slice it in half lengthways. Then place your avocado half cut side down on a chopping board and thinly slice. Next, gently fan out the slices. Curl the slices from one end towards the centre to create a shape like rose. You’ll need steady hands, knife skills, and a lot of patience.
This method can also be applied to just about any fruit or veggie. Try with strawberries, peaches, and kiwis!
2. Rainbow Grilled Cheese
Rainbow foods are going viral, no matter what, constantly. Kala Toast shop in Hong Kong created a ‘unicorn grilled cheese’, which is the first rainbow grilled cheese sandwich. This sandwich costs 42 HKD (a little over $5), consists of four kinds of cheese flavored with lavender (purple), basil (green) and tomatoes (red). So it may not be the tastiest grilled cheese sandwich in the world, but it’s definitely the most colorful one. Not cheesy, isn’t it?
3. Bone Marrow Doughnut
A donut shop based on NYC, The Doughnut Project is known for its inventive flavors. And they started hawking a pastry filled with chocolate, plus bone marrow. Many of us probably feel weird to eat a doughnut with bone marrow. However, delicious thing+delicious thing=we know it will be tremendously good. This limited treat is only served on certain days of the week, so check out The Doughnut Project’s Instagram before you go.
4. Smoothie Stacks
Basically, it occurs when you pour different types of smoothies very carefully into the glass like building layers. It leads the colors sit on top of each other making multiple layers. Some people put sliced fruit in between the layers.
Swirl, ombre, neapolitan— anything is possible.
